It seems like everyone and their dog is putting out digital download products these days. And why wouldn’t they? Digital products are a great way to add relatively “passive” income to your business, and when done right, they can bring tons of value to your audience.
But with all the digital guides and programs out there, getting your product noticed in your industry can feel like shouting into a void. Sure, anyone can create a digital product for their audience to download, but selling it is a totally different story.
So what does it take to create a digital guide that your audience is excited about and ready to put in their credit card details?
Here are 8 tips that can make your next digital guide stand out and fly off your virtual shelves:
You want your customers to feel like they’ve made a great purchase from the minute they hit “buy now.” That means planning out everything from your automated delivery to the message that goes along with it. You want your customer to feel delighted as they open up your PDF and dig in.
Below is an example of a recent Sales Funnel email launch I did for Leah Lupo, Fitness and Lifestyle Coach. She made over 13k in sales in one week!
No one is going to feel delighted if they open your PFD and realize just spent good money on a 4-page download. Make sure your guide is packed with valuable content that’s worth their time and investment. Put in the work to make it a great product – your customers will be able to tell if you half-assed it!
The below example is a snapshot of Sabrina Guice free digital download. A great value in exchange for an email!
Good content that comes from an expert is invaluable. Be sure to give your audience all the value that you promised before they purchased inside the PDF. And please, please, please take the time to edit, proofread, and critique your work up and down before you hit publish. Have a copy specialist review it if you need to (I get mine reviewed too!). Simple grammar mistakes can hurt your credibility big time.
Showcase yourself as the expert in your field by including your bio inside the guide. Don’t miss out on the chance to let your readers get to know you and what fuels your passion! They’ve already bought from you at this point, which means they already like you. If you play your cards right, the way you position yourself inside the guide can lead to future sales.
Here is an example of an introduction page to one of my freebies. If you haven’t had a chance to snag it click here to gain access!
Make it easy for your readers to access any resources mentioned in your guide with external links. You can include affiliate links to make some affiliate income, and also link to your website and social profiles so it’s easy for your readers to connect with you.
Include cues to keep your readers engaged as they’re going through your guide. You can include things like forms or worksheet pages where readers can fill in their thoughts, or go through a series of questions to get them thinking. Give them prompts like “print this page” or “fill this out and save it” to keep your product in front of mind.
Don’t miss the opportunity to add an upsell or invite your readers to connect with you further at the end of your guide! If they’ve received value from their purchase, they will 100% want more. Give them the opportunity to purchase another product or work with you in some way before they go.
This step right here will be the difference between a $12 product and a $99 product. Visuals SELL, and when your guide is presented properly people are much more willing to spend their money on you. A professional designer will be able to create a consistent theme that flows with your brand and includes visually appealing illustrations, tables, and icons that will help keep your reader engaged throughout your digital download.
Remember, anyone can create a digital product for their audience, but not everyone can have it sell WELL. Use the tips above as your blueprint and you’ll be well on your way to creating a digital product that your customers can’t wait to buy.
